I guess thats what I get for running my mouth trying to impress everyone with the warm weather down here, I end up getting stuck with the few days it actually rains down here in return. Granted it hasn’t started just yet but today was cloudy (still warm though, 74) and overcast with a chance of rain in the afternoon but tomorrow and Saturday are expected to rain the majority of the day. Thankfully I got another round of golf in today, while it wasn’t my best round I do have to say she turned out pretty good having not hit the links for the last 3 months. Unfortunately however it will most likely be my last before I head back to the snow…to tell you the truth from the things I’ve been hearing Im a little uncomfortable heading into a blanket of snow and the cold weather thats happening. At least my birthday on December 7th will help ease the pain…that is unless I get puking sick.
Tomorrow will be a different story, not sure what the plan is just yet but golf is most likely out of the question with rain involved. Obviously I’ve golfed in rain before but its a different breed of people down here, if it’s even a slight drizzle and not above 80 people are bundled up like it was an Albertan snow storm. The last time I came down here I was shopping along Scottsdale wearing jeans and a collared shirt sweating profusely. I think it was around 75 fahrenheit and some girl came wondering into the store she worked at wearing a heavy sweater, a scarf, some moccasins (or those stylish looking femme boots that look like them) and an unzipped jacket. Being the creep I am I managed to eavesdrop a little on the conversation but all I could hear was her complaining how cold it was…shes cold and here I am looking like I just finished playing goal for the 3-36 Beaverlodge Blades. I guess thats what happens when you get climatized and don’t have to deal with snow…or maybe Alberta weather just sucks all together.
While golfing was the main course today yesterday was nothing more then a beverage. Nothing too special taking place, rolled around town and did some more shopping. Regardless of our dollar being higher I still cant get over just how cheap everything is down here, I mean even when our loonie was licking balls you could still get some quicksilver shirts for ten bucks…sure beats paying around 30 for them up in Edmonton. Its no wonder Canadian consumers are pissed off right now, here we have our dollar soaring and yet we still pay the same price. Most vehicles south of the border are still $15,000 to $20,000 dollars cheaper for the same make, model, and accessories. Canadian businesses must be laughing the whole way to the bank with people still paying that premium. I already mentioned how cheap houses were, I’m still laughing about the fact that my condo is as much (if not more) as a brand new 2000 SQ. FT. house in a new area being developed. Crazy if you ask me.
I’d be lying if I said I was anxious to get back to see Edmonton but I am looking forward to my birthday December 7th and seeing Sidney Crosby in Edmonton on the 5th (Im not gay I just like hockey). I dont know how many are making the trek to the city for that or the St. Louis game on the 7th but there are a couple of peeps who are making there way from a different continent that I havent seen in years that should spruce up the entire affair. It should be a good time regardless and if you’re in the city drop me a line or message and you can come laugh at me.
Still not sure when I’ll be headed north again, I’m crossing my fingers that I get my hands on some football tickets for this weekends Arizona Cardinals / Cleavland Browns game, chances are it may be the last shot I have at going to a game for this year because they wont make the playoffs (because Leinart gave Warner Paris Hiltons gonorrhea, right Reeme?). I will be back Tuesday at the latest so if anyone out there has any questions as to whats happening the weekend of my birthday don’t hesitate to drop me a line…that’s if to say I don’t mysteriously disappear down here or freeze the moment I step off the plane.
